Ok Have a H head 8043 DD .

Need to know if you measure the one you have yet for height. I posted on here a couple of weeks ago.

If I do have to measure the water ports, where do I do so from? The water ports look to be on the thin side. Some where around .050 .

If this is the case what should be done ?

The Guy I have working on the head was to measure it but we talked and he started to work on it, before we got the measurement. He's done and Now I need to know what pistons I can use and what I can do next. It was on a frooze tractor I'm guessing it was running at one time or the other. He didn't mill any off of it. I aiming for a 3.5 size of bore or just a little bigger fire crater pistons. Will I have to clay the engine , if it has too much milled off of the head? Was planing on using tractor as a lite farm tractor to rake and pull disk 8' drag type, normaly only run for a few hours at a time, not too often do I run them all day, day in and out.

Thanks!!

Biggest bore with a stock H sleeve set is 3-9/16 which is for the C-164 early Super H. It will be a thin wall sleeve set, and will take it from 3-3/8, to 3-9/16. You could go a bit larger up to the 3.5 overbore Super H kit, Just would be a thinner dry sleeve insert. Now, if you wanna get a bit bigger bore, insert the 350, C-175 sleeve and piston kit. You would have to bore the H block, to fit the 350 sleeve barrel, and then on the top flange on the sleeve, machine it to the H flange diameter. then you have the thick sleeves, and you can go to a larger bore, later down the road, if u choose to go bigger,, and all the hard work is done already! My honest opinion would be to go with the C-175 sleeve kit, and bore the block. makes a pretty stout H in div 1 and 2 type classes in low gear, and be a good solid engine for a farm tractor as well. The engine kits are the same price for either kit,, so, price the block work, then pick which kit to use. The 8043DD, has a slight slant on one side of the compression chamber, so it can be used with fire craters. I haven't measured the head yet,, got distracted,, it happens,, check back,, Ill check it later today. ChadS
