i was watching those "smoker tractors" on tv and they said they have 2500 hp.. what kind of drivetrain do they use??stock blocks right?? said somthing about john deeres having a displacment advantage.. how do the 4430 do good with just a 404 and 466?? just wandering.

the drivetrain is for the most part stock in the rear end. most have big tranys like a profab trany. the blocks are stock on the out side big on the like 600 plus in the prostock class. the tin work dont matter in that class. they have some big cubes.

The Deere's have the cubic inch advantage because their blocks will hold more cubes reliably. There are some Pro Stocks (single turbo) with 672 cubic inches and turning 5000+ RPMs. In the Super Stock (multiple turbos) classes the Internationals are the more consistent. Most of those tractors don't get over about 540 cubic inches with many staying around 466, but they run up to 4 turbos. A lot of the Super Stocks run a component rear end. IH never made a big block like the deeres have,this would be what they mean by that.
as far as 2500 hp out of a prostck i think they are stretching that a tad.
