I know you said you wanted to leave it stock bore, but I bet if you check the cylinder bore is worn. I have a new set of .045 over IH high compression pistons. If you are interested, please e-mail me. [email protected] thanks

Been told, a good 301 will make anywhere from 85 to 100 hp. I know, I can not get a 301 piston kit, there are no sleeves in a 301,, so all you need is the pistons. try to find a set of LP gas pistons for the 806,, or use LP pistons, from the C-200 engine,, they are hard to find, for the 806,, but you may have better luck finding them for the C-200 engines,, same bore and stroke, and parts as the 301 6 cyl,, but the C-200 is a 4cyl!! also, use the governor unit from the C-200, you find the C-200 in the the 544IH I belive,, it is a very high rpm unit, especially inthe industrial applications, Ive done bout everything I can think of to get all I can get from my 263 in my 460,, (except a fuel pump going bad on the track) LOL! Other than carb, igntiton upgrades, the LP pistons, and the governor will make a good upgrade, noticable, and cost efficient. Just hope you would be able to find LP pistons,,,, I was told,, I bought the last set around,, that was 2 years ago,,,, LOL!! good luck! there is a fella with the handle "460",on here,, I think he has some parts and experience to help,, he knows those 60 series pretty well!!
