our best set of tires had a boot in them. between pulls this summer we let them set out in the hot sun, the hole went from 3/4 inch long to over 6inches. has anyone tried volcanising tires, does it work and what is it?

if hole is not too big and casing not rotten it can be done and works

I had a set of Armstrongs that split, I drilled holes in them and laced them like a football with parachute cord, then put big boots on the inside, they held for a couple of years of pulling until the tires were replaced.

There is some "wonder glop" tire glue/cement/putty that www.millertire.com sells. If that stuff was spread all over the tear just before lacing it up, the repair maybe even stronger?
