I am pulling the sleeves out of my farmall m and putting 4-1/8 step head pistons in the block. Question is I am having the head redone as it is already pulled off. Can I shave much if any of the head and will it help much? Have a great Thanksgiving and Thanks for any help.

If it is an 8060D, keep the plate thickness .300 or thicker. measure the thickness at one of the triangle water ports, what ever is beyond .300, that is what can be removed. Stepping up to the 281 is a good idea, should be able to pull out the sleeves, and drop em in after honing the block, at least according to the sleeve books, the barrel is 4-1/8. You should look into a 450 cam as well, it will help with torque. if you can take 200 off the head safely, it should get you about 35 psi more. just watch the plate thickness of the head, dont go to thin. 574-893-7437 to get a spring.
