Styled G head mods

I have a 1950 JD G with M&W pistons and styled head. Does anyone know how much compression I can get by milling the head .250 and cutting the block. I havnt pulled the head off yet to see how much I can mill before parts start hitting, I was just wondering what others on here have done and seen first hand. Rules dont allow stroking.

I know a flat head would be the way to go, but I just had the styled head gone through last year with new everything and 2 cracks fixed. And I like the idea of having the other pullers look over my tractor in the pits (like I do to their"s, ha!) and see that stock head still on it. Thanks for any help.

If you can stroke it and get away w/ it, it"ll be be worth it. I always heard stroking a G was the best thing for it. I had mine (the head) shaved to the eyebrows.

You can mill all you want off the head.. nothing is going to hit the head... its the valve train you will have to work on.. you will have to shorten the push rods or space out the rocker arm assembly (and some times notch the cup holders over the valves for the rocker arms.) I have to agree with the other post.. stroke it.. or have the rods lengthened.. and you can always go back.. once its milled.. you can't go back.. JDGnut

Lengthen rods,stroke crank ,Don't mill block & head,If all you are trying to do is get more comp.
