How much stroke can you have and what rods schould I use planning on 5.750 bore

9.500" is about all you can squeeze in there w/o starting to do really stupid stuff. 9.250" is a lot easier. For rods you can weld a 329 diesel (aka 303 gas) rod to the A rod. Both these rods have a 2.750" big end. Or you could get billet rods made that would be much stronger and have them made to use the 2.750" bearing. For a 5.750" bore, I think there is a Pratt & Whitney aircraft piston available.

As Drew said.. for the 5.75 use the Pratt & Whitney pistons... When you buy the pistons also buy the aircraft rods.. weld those to the 359 rods..

Schooler welded our last set of rods together and didn't want to use the aircraft rods, but rather A rods w/ the pin end bushed down for the smaller aircraft wrist pin. Whether there is a logical reason for doing it that way, I do not know.

Drew.. the only thing I can think of is that the if he used both Deere rods.. they are cast.. the aircraft rod is more of a billet..
