I am overhauling my friends governor on a super H. What can I do to make it snappy? Lighten the weights? Tighten the spring? I am wanting to listen to all suggestions.

I put a spring out of a John Deere planter in my H governor, but for the life of me I can't find that part number. The only problem I had was it would not idle, so I took the arm that the spring attaches to out, and ground it down to give it more clearence.

Now, maybe I'm talkin' out of turn here...but it seems to me a fellow might just oughta know what he's doin' BEFORE he takes on a job for a friend; that is, if he wants to KEEP him a friend.

But that's just how I see it.

Hey Buzzmzan, blow it out your butt. I have been a mech. for over 30 years and most certainly know how a gov works and how to rebuild one. I was looking for ideas that have been known to work to make the gov perform better than a rebuilt stock one. I guess I could hit and miss with stronger springs or lighten the weights. It was my understanding that this was a forum for people to disscuss ideas and trade facts on how to overcome problems or improve performance. You must think it is a place to show off your "little man" wisdom.
