I have a 1950 b John Deere that I pull with in the 4500-5500# wt class & I would like to know the best place to put weights. Directly on the wheels? or hanging on the axles? I lose traction the way it is now. I'd appreciate any help or suggestions. thanks lots.

Everybody seems to have an opinion on this, but I have found the best place to be right on the wheels. If your front end doesn't ever get a little light you could also hang weight behind the axle. You want your front tires to just kind of float on top of the track under a good pull. Try running your rear tires as low psi as you think they can run. If that doesn't help get a farmall.
