Is there a cheap Farmall M buildup?

Okay, I have some friends that have built some high powered MM's, and they have said that they are super easy to get high power by using different cylinders, cranks, heads, etc, from different engines, and they bolt right on. I have heard different things here and there for Farmall M's for making high power, but they all sound real expensive, like offset boring, big stroking, custom rods and pistons, etc..., but this all sounds pretty expensive to me. I am just curious as to what can be done with parts that you can find here and there. I guess pulling the sleeves and boring straight down from the step in the block shouldn't be too bad, and a full balance job shouldn't cost too much. All I am thinking of is building a toy to take to a few pulls just for fun, and run exhibition, (we don't have any modified antique in the local circuit). (maybe even a W-6) Can anything like this be done reasonably? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. I enjoy reading this forum hearing all the things you guys are doing. Thanks, Regards, FD

dynamite and lots of it is the best build up (or blow up) for an m its going to blow up eventually anyways

Yes, and you dont have to bore the block! for aboutthe price of a rebuild kit, for parts,, most expencive part is the crankshaft if you stroke it. You can have all the cubic inch in the world,, and yes, that is nice,, but there is a whole lot more in just building cubes. We built a 4-1/8X 5-3/4 M engine, just a sample of the compression it has,,, 225 psi, and it is not broke in yet. Email me if you like,,, will give you the run down on this design,, or others available.. Me, personally, I dont like spending alot of money,,, especially for something that dont get what they say. These kits are for budget minded folks, who want to play, and not spend the family silver doing it. Aint bashing anyones elses engines,, not at all,,!! We are just finishing up on a small stroker motor right now that is going to be very reliable and fun to run in the local pulls. It is a mere 374 cubic inch. You can still run stock M rods with an over the counter piston and a small 6.5 inch stroke. A real fun tractor to pull and rely on. IF THEIR WAS A CHEAP FARMALL BUILD UP, I SURE WOULD HAVE LIKED TO KNOW ABOUT IT ! EVERY SUPER-M THRU 450 RUNS 4-1/8" X 5.25 WITH A GOOD 450 GAS HEAD AND IT'S ABOUT 60-63HP IN GOOD SHAPE!!
PULL THE SLEEVES, BORE IT TOO 4.28-4.30, IF IT'S A 264 BLOCK OR BETTER. HAVE PISTON'S MADE UP, ABOUT 700 BUCKS AND IT'LL BE A GOOD STOUT 70HP

THE MOLINES AREN'T THAT CHEAP ANYMORE TO BUILD UP !! HEAD'S ARE EXPENSIVE !!! NOT ALOT OF 6" CRANKS LAYING AROUND !
JUST MY OPINION, I'VE CALLED ALL AROUND THE WORLD . STAY AWAY FROM THE GUY IN OHIO ! THE PRODUCT WON'T GET YOU THERE !

Come on, do you really want cheap or do you want to kick some butt? I can"t help with the cheap part, but if you want to win, I can do that! I"m running a 500 cubic inch M that is bored out to 4 and 1/2 inches by 7 and 3/4 inch stroke. Tough! It turns 18.4-38"s no problem. I can put it in the top 3 or 4 very consistently. Any questions I"d be glad to help. country boy.
