Reground cam = how much more HP??

I have slightly modified Allis WD that puts out 52 horsepower at 540 P.T.O RPM. How much more power can I realistically expect by getting my cam reground by Lunati, Camcrafters, or somebody else who knows what they are doing??

WHEN YOU SAY SMALL MODIFICATION TO THE ENGINE, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ?
ALL OTHER POSTINGS HAVE GOOD MERIT. I WOULD MAKE SURE THE STOCK CAM IS IN GOOD SHAPE, AND FORGET THE CAM GRIND !! CHECK THE CAM NUMBER, IS THEIR A LATER VIRSION CAM THAT WAS MADE FOR THAT TRACTOR IN THE LAST FEW YEARS IT WAS BUILT !! AS LATER TRACTORS IN A SERIES WERE BUILT AND RPM'S WERE INCREASED FOR MORE HP, MANY TIMES CAM DESIGN WAS IMPROVED AT THE FACTORY.

Here is a tip to setting valve lash,, you may find a few more HP there,,, My opinion, is that the book specs for adjustments, dont make HP, they make clearences so the parts dont wear out through out the 8-12 hr day in the fields,, Ok ,,
I tighten up lash gaps on the valves, I use a compression guage, and I do one cyl,, and one valve at a time, tighten it, until you get peak cyl pressure on the guage, if the pressure drops, then,, it is too tight,, it is a long process, but once you get the hang of it,, it goes smoothly. I find an extra 10-25psi more in the cyl pressure. and that is more HP, for no money!! Make sure you keep the engine warmed up!!! cause if it goes cold,, the gaps will not be right,, keep it warm, Try it!! you may be surprized on what you gain,, ChadS

This is for a stock cammed engine, not a modified cam grind, I made a mistake in the info I did not read it to how it should have been. ChadS

Some GOOD valve-work will do as much for your "G" as a cam... Have 5 angles cut on the seat..starting with the usual 3 for the valve, and 2 more, deeper in the seat..THEN, have the valves cut with 4 to 5 angles..re-shaping them to a "Tulip" shape...Polish them until there are no visible signs of the angle cuts.. Then, cut ONLY one flat cut, matching the seating cut, and both should only be the width of the seating width... What you are doing is removing all non-essential and unnecessary metal that obstructs air-flow... Actually making the Valve/Seat opening into a venturi...You will get more Flow at any given lift, with much more flow at .050.. Do this, and you will be surprised..!! Polish the combustion chambers too, to eliminate "Hot Spots"..especially at the plug threads.. Go Getum...!!! Ron..

A cam is just one component of many that work together. Carb,intake,ports, compression,exhaust,fuel etc. A modest grind in an otherwise stock engine won"t loose any power and may gain. Just being a fresh cam with an accurate profile and providing full lift could add as much or more power if the old cam is worn out.

How about some names and numbers of good people to grind cams for Farmalls. FYI Lunati does not do custom tractor grinds any more. They say they want all of there focus on racing.

camcraftcams.com, he has a few different profiles for Farmall"s. He does alot of cams for the bigtime truck and tractor pullers too.
