looking for a small pulling tractor, something in the 2750 to 3500 pound stock classes. We can get our hands on a Farmall super A to build, just wondering why I never see an A pulling tractor.

I have been pulling my Farmall A for a couple years now. I only get to about 2 pulls a year. So far I have two 2nd place finishes and one 1st place finish. These little tractors can really pull! I pull in the 2500, 3000, and 3500 classes. I also pull it in the 4500# team pull alongside a Farmall H. It is a fairly stock machine with the original engine rebuilt, weight brackets, and wheelie bars added. Needless to say this little A really surprises people! I think that is why I enjoy pulling it so much, you don't see many pulling, and the people never expect it to do much! If you have an A and are thinking of pulling it, then go for it! You will have alot of fun doing it.

There is a Farmall A that pulls in the 2800# class up my way that has taken one of the first three places out of 10 or 12 tractors. Tractors in the class were BF Avery, Allis CA, Allis C, John Deere M, and others. He does not have a power problem sooo, I am guessing he has installed a combine engine. I am only guessing mind you.

At the moment my A is 132 cid and that combine engine should have about 153 and probably a better head and manifold.

The Cubes are 153 and I think it came out of a 303? but I am not sure. I lost my notes.

I hope to try and pull my Super A this weekend! I have a cast center on the right wheel and the cast round weights on both rears. With me driving it seems to both pretty even with both rear tires but I will find out Saturday!! I have to whip my Nephew on his Super A!

Try an Moline R. They can get down to 2750 with some work and also accept Z parts. Some pull quite well and look good too. I have one I will be pulling and I have a nice 1940 I"d sell.

They would make a good little tractor to pull. It would take some playing with weights to get it to pull evenly, being everything is on one side. If you're interested I have a farmall C for sale. Same motor as the A just on big rubber. All the hard work is done. Big cubes out of the little fellow.

The Farmall C pulls like a champ but I had to take the lift arm assembly off to get it down to 3000 pounds.I had the fenders on but I would bet they would not weigh more than 30 pounds.

I pulled two times this year with a super c 132cid, first time on gravel got third, second time on dirt and got second, power was not a problem, with basically stock engine(flat tops)also has new 11.2x36 firestones on it aired down to 10 psi, had to take fenders off (26lbs each) to make 3500 lb class.

I guessed wrong on the fenders then. They looked lighter than that to my untrained eye. For information sake, when I took the lift assembly off I dropped 40 pounds on the scales at the pull.
