I recently took the cast wheels off of my 77 and put on pressed steel. I wanted to see if anyone could tell me how much weight I have removed. I had a 14.9 on a 11 inch rim and a 15.5 on a 12 inch rim. They were on cast centers with 1 wheel weight on each center. The tubes had fluid in them but I am not sure how much. It ran out for about 10 minutes on each one. I now have used 14.9s on 14 inch pressed steel. How much weight do you think I have lost? Also, the bolts that were holding the cast centers on do not have threads that come all the way to the head so I cannot tighten the pressed steel wheels all the way since the thread stops about 1/2 inch from the head. Where can I find bolts that will thread all the way in but also have the tapered look to seat properly on the wheels?

Thanks,
Keith

All right. I found the bolts at the local tractor dealer. I am just cuious about the weight now. Does anyone have any ideas about how much weight reduction I should have after the wheel change?

Just an idea, I did the same thing. I threaded the bolts the rest of the way with a 9/16" fine thread die..... ..Oh were my arms sore!!!!! !!!!!
Could barely tie my shoes the next day... But it worked.

I got lugbolts for a NH manure spreader for my 660. Actually, the 9/16 bolts you need are quite common. Deere running gears, etc.
