Usually shorter is better??? You will "pull" on the rears more with a shorter hitch. When using a short hitch, when the front comes up it will usually in a hurry (up here in clay they do anyways). Is the pressure in your rear tires where you would like it??? Front end staying down(ideally "skimming the track near the end")??? I dont keep my hitch as short as possible, I found out for me 22" is good, different tractors, different set-ups.....Be safe..... ..Wheelie bars are cheap insurance..... .

there are two ways yo do everthing so here is my
idea you want your front end to come of the ground
putting all of the weight on the rear wheels. but then your hitch goes down and you lose weight from the sled so thats why you just want it to be just a little off the ground, you can do this by moving weight or changing the length of you hitch
the longer the hitch the easier it is to raise the front end

OFF subject,, how would you do the opposite?? I have a theroy for the next pull I am going to,, it is a sand trap,, and too much power, spins u out,, I want to change the amount of torque fron the wheels to the track, keep the front light, cause it dont hook, but the sled scoots easy on this stuff!! Just have to keep it from spinning, and keep it going,, I know that a 20 in high drawbar is too high, it pulls too hard on the tractor, and spins out on sand,, so what could I do to decrese the amount of "Hook" to the track, all I have to do is drive it,, keep it moving,, but,, the factors of the hitch is what is on my mind,,, Lower,,, longer,,, ????? Hi ChadS. My stock M-M U won 5500 in sand with a very long drawbar, old hard meaty Armstrong 15.5x38s with 5 psi in them. The stock motor held the track. No one came close. I even popped out of gear at the end. Hot rods just dug holes that night. I had all the power I needed. Just thought you could use some info. It worked that night...not any other time on clay haha.

Yep, long drawbar worked well yesterday, for those who had them, also, the old 45 degree tires. Just had way too much power/torque to get a bite.
