I have a problem with my 38 a jd in low gear but in high she works just fine do you think that it will be able to pull in third gear and still be strong enough?

NO NO and NO. You need to find out what's wrong with the low side of the trans. Highly modified unstyled A's usually don't pull above 2nd. These tractors have a fast 1st. gear and need alot of power to pull with.

Highly modified A's pull third gear or fourth when the speed limit allows.
