WD45 Competition?

I was wondering which tractors I would most likely pull against with my WD45. I am pulling for the first time this coming spring. My tractor is all stock,narrow front,and I don't own any weights. I guess it weighs about 4000 lbs. Thanks,Dennis

look out for the allis chalmer CA's, verry tuff in 3500-4500 stock class. where will you be pulling? What part of country.

I will be pulling in central Indiana. Brookville,Greensburg,Rushville. I just hope the sled moves. Ha Ha. I don't expect to eat any one's lunch. I just want to have fun. Dennis.

You'll find Super H's, Oliver 60's, 66's, and possibly 77's depending on your rules.

You may also find some John Deere B's, m's, and some A's. Some MM R's, and Massy harris 33's.

there is a slight chance that you may be up against a Ford rowcrop. you don't see many of them, but if you do you may as well leave the WD45 on the trailer.

Can you tell me more about the Ford row crop? I have not heard of that one. Whats the model number? Sounds like a tough tractor. Dennis.

Some Ford rowcrop models are 540, 700, 900, and 901, the one that you are most likely to see is the 900. I've heard that there's one that pulls 4th gear at 12.7 mph.

Hey, I am a JD man and I say a John Deere A weighing 4000# will eat almost anything for lunch!! It has alot more moter and is heavier. If it is a short chain, high drawbar hitch height, and a HARD clay track, then you'll have trouble with the A. YOu can't quite weight it right. Ours with 16.9-38 with one wheel off the front, weighed 3950 with me on it. THen I weighed 140#. so, it would be a tough tractor to beat at MOST pulls.

John,
The only thing you will have over Dennis' WD45 is tire size. However,if you were pulling in our club, you'd only be using 15.5's which Dennis could be using also, it would take away alot of your traction and ground speed. Combine that with a stock moter with only 10% over on RPM's, and Dennis would eat you for lunch. WD's pound for pound are some of the meanest little pullers around. The only exception that would be your saving grace would be if you own one of the Great late model JD A's with the 1.5mph 1st gear. Then power would not be an issue, and on a sticky track you could be competitive all the way up to 7500 pounds, lugging by the powered out little allis, and pretty much everything else. John I'm a JD man, and I've seen alot of things, but I've never seen a stock Model A pull more than 200 feet in the 5,000 pound and up, without major internal modification. 4000 pound might be another story, but I doubt it. John, I hate (not really) to say this but I don't think your 4000 pound J.D. is any heavier than my 4000 pound Oliver or any other 4000 pound tractor.
