see alot of post on factors affecting a tractors ability to pull such as balance, tires, etc. what has been your experience of changing overall width either narrower or wider on tractors ability to perform. seems to be a difference of opinion amoung pullers I associate with. thanks for any input.

I LIKE TO KEEP MINE NARROW, MAKES IT GO STRAIGHT DOWN THE TRACK AND EASIER TO KEEP STRAIGHT TOM

If you can go wider then the pan your not piling up the dirt in front of it. There is one sled here in NC that the pan is narrow enough to do that with. I just can't see a advantage of wider or narrower unless you was down to the nitty gritty of spinning at the end and hit a brake to get the non-spinning tire to grab. In that case it would make your braked wheel like the pivot point and the hook point would be closer to the pivot on a narrower tractor. Mathematically it would make the pulling of the sled easier and take less traction for the non-spinning wheel to go without spinning.
