Firestone field and road tires are probably teh best I have found. Check your local tire shops for a set of take offs. If you can find a set of road worn tires, they will have a knife edge.

Firestone Field and Road are most popular. If you find Firestone Deep Treads, they are excellent too because they have more bars than a Field and Road tire. I use road wore Armstrongs and do ok as well as Traction Torque Goodyear. The Goodyear are not extremely popular, but wore just right they do well. Trying B.F. Goodrich next! My advice: hard to go wrong with old hard Firestones.

Have to admire you having brains and using them. 99% of new pullers want more HP but forget that without getting the power to ground, even 1000HP is useless. All other factors identical, an old hard tall narrow tire with short sharp bars. Will out pull a short wide new soft tire with tall bars. Unless the track is very soft and loose.

Probably 2 of the most popular tire brands used in pulling are Firestone's and Armstrong which were recently purchased by Titan. Ideal tread wear is about 2/3 worn.
