I need to know all the power secrets for a Deere H. I have been told that you could get 40+ Hp from an H. I want to pull it in the 2500-3500# classes.

I have a Oliver 88 as well as 2 John Deere H's. THe deeres have more power per cubic inch than the oliver. but your not real bright then are you.

I have some info on parts for an H. I pulled a stock 1939 model. Very weak, but tons of fun!!! The cam gear has to be modified if there is too much power. I do know that the later cam gears were stronger than the earlier ones. There is a fella that makes a custom one. I will try to find the info. E-mail me if you'd like at [email protected]

We have a JD H pulling in our deadweight club. it is a stocker, but it runs nice. Deadweight pulling, you could run it just the way it is and be competitive over a hot rod tractor! Is that right? the cam drives the whole thing? Wow... Chad

I did respectable in deadweight because it is balanced well and has taller tires. I was able to beat less experienced pullers because of how I hooked up to the sled, but I rarely came in the top four. Just didn't have the grunt at 14 h.p. If it had just 5-10 more h.p., it would be tough to beat. Someday..... Not bad for a tractor that Dad and Grandpa bought for $75 (adding only paint).

I built one with 3 7/8 and stroke it 3/4 inch. Goes well in classes with ac c,b int a,b and other tractors like these.

You have to remember that the H puts it's power to the ground through the camshaft, and it will only stand so much power.
