I have the pertronix kit #1121, their flame thower coil 1.5 ohms #40011, and a 6a msd box. I put these items on my 70 JD and it doesn't run. A guy was helping me connect it all up while I was drilling the holes to mount the MSD box. He put the orange and black wires that come out of the box that go to the coil onto the battery. Did this screw up the box? It has since been wired up correctly. With a tester light I am getting fire out of the box where it goes to hte ignition switch and distributor. I get nothing from the positive terminal of the coil cranking over of not. What else can I check or does anyone know what might bee wrong?

Better get enough ballast resistance into the 1.5 ohm coil circuit to limit current to 4.0 amps. Those Ignitor triggers used on Two Cylinders are different than the moduals used on other brands. The Deere units latch on and latch off according to the Pertronic tech I spoke with. Some solid cores wires, none resistor plugs and widen the gap to 60 thou or until it arcs across inside the distributor cap. The MSD however may not make any more power unless the combustion chamber is shrouded with a piston dome.MSD can't hurt on a two cylinder as the mixture is lit from the side and around the piston instead of from the middle.

I got it running. The MSD box got fried so I bypassed it.
