I have a ford 901 that I would like to pull. I don't know to much about them. I know they turn alot of rpms. I have talked to a couple of people and they told me that this tractor was not made until 1958. And the tractor club has a limit on the year 1957. Will I be wasting time biulding this type of tractor? Or will I have a good runner? Please give me some advice.

The 901 series began production in 1958 starting with serial no. 11977. They were built through 1962. If your club requirement is 1957 or older I would say you are out of luck. I own a 1955 Ford
700 and worked it over four years ago. I have pulled Dead Weight dirt, Dead Weight cement and Transfer Sled and have won trophies in everyone. In fact I had over 150 trophies on the shelf and I gave majority of them away. Too much dusting! A Ford hi-clearance can make a very competitive puller in the 3500 to 4500 pound classes. The 4000 pound class has been best for me. If you could find a 900 series, that would get you under the age requirement in your club. The 900 and 901 mechanically are nearly the same but the 901 has some refinement in the styling.
