Slowsmoke, I was going to write a long drawn out respnse to your question and got logged off and lost it and I don't have inough time to repost it right now. I have a diesel highperformance shop and we specialize in the 94-03 7.3 Powerstrokes. We install many different performance upgrades and if you would like a little help with you project Give me a call. (740)599-2972 is my home number. Be very carefull installing your chip. there are some very important procedures that should be followed and if you don't you run the risk of frying your computer(I have done this, Not cheap). I have all the info to be able to tell you what computer codes you can mix and match and witch ones will get a little upset if you mix them. There is a lot of performance to be gained from fooling with these trucks and you will be quite amzed if you use the proper combo. My 6 speed runs pretty well for what it is. If I could get my wife to blow black smoke and whistle like my truck I'd be in heaven..... .LOL If there is anything I can help with let me know. Just call before 7:00 eastern.

Should have bought an automatic. The 6 speeds do seem gutless compaired to the auto. Was some clutch problems with the 99's. Not much on the road hang with one though with the 100HP kit.

The power programmer from superchips in Fl is the the easy way to go and makes good power. So far mine hasn't melted.

Hay Slowsmoke, the chip plugs into the computer down by your left foot. One thing though, you need the proper chip for your computer. This code is on a tag on the drivers side door. If they dont match, dont use it. I had a powerjoke in my 99 SD and wasn't impressed. Poor fuel economy and no low end power, poor 6 speed and clutch (replaced both). Not a Ford fan anymore.
Superchip makes a nice programmer for your Powerstroke that works better than the chip(had them both) Hope this helps
