cam clearance/stroker crank

What is the best way to grind a cam to clear the crank?Put it on a lathe,and cut down?or maybe just cut flats where there is interference?It is on a Farmall M.Thanx for the opinions!

You also have the option of removing material from what ever is going to hit the cam. If its the big end of the rod then cap screws can can be used to allow more clearance. Go with the flats. IMHO you might save some time by doing the first one the hard way then copy for all the rest. You just need to index the cam x degrees past or before the intake or exhaust lobe keeping in mind which lobe is which and direction of rotation. The problem with grinding outside the block is one mistake is to many.

Flats work the best. Its leaves more material so makes the cam stronger. For bigger strokes the flats need to be aroung .437 thick. This would be to weak if it were round. Hope this helps

how much you gotta go? if not much, it would probably be easier turn in a lathe. if alot, I would go flats.
