Well, it was mentioned at the meeting in the fall.. but that was about it.. Our new insurance will cover truck and tractors... I don't know how far the will let us go... but maybe after a few other projects are finished.. We'll play with one of these... they interest me alot more than putting a V8SB in a tractor... Just thought we'd start looking at some rules that other clubs are using to save some complaining later.... JDGnut

our club uses the run what you brung rules as far as performance,but only 1 turbo.the safety rules read like the NTPA,infact if i didn't know better i would say they got a old copy of the NTPA rules and copied them!they don't have any of the 04 changes in them though.

I think your rules make sense. Run what you brung. From past experiences I believe that blowing black smoke is for putting on a show and getting spectators in the stands, isnt that what we all want?? If there is a cube limit or a rpm limit or a speed limit, I for one am not going to bring my farm tractor 4 hours for that type of class and spectators can see a field stock out in the corn field. Show them some smoke and let them hear a whistleing turbo. If the proper safety measures are taken and enforced on diesel tractors the class will be safe. the only problem I see is other pullers who are not going to pull this class trying to help interpret the rules. there needs to be a serious count of how many and who would seriously build a diesel superfarm or pro type tractor and they need to get together and discuss limitations and rules.

need a strong grip on the safety rules to make it work.a couple of the superfarm guys called me a shade tree puller running with 10 year old technology.when they come down and play with us at the fair pulls we normally knock them down a notch or 2!here is the secret-the average SF tractor around here is pushing the 600 ci pretty hard,but i only have 436ci.they have a 3 inch charger while i have a 3.8 inch intake with a 4.75 inch exhaust and they turn around 3500 rpm on the track while i spin around 5400 rpm down the track with a 6200 rpm take off rpm.if you figure ci to ci i would lose every time,but if you factor in rpm sich as 1 rev=total ci and multiply times the total revs you will come up with a factor ci of 2,100,000 for the 600 ci super farm and 2,354,400 for me with a little 436.so in reality i move more air than they do,then add the turbo size difference of around 50 psi for a SF and 75psi for a good T-18 and everything shows itself a little more clear.i would love to build a cuber but on my budget i can't,so i run what i brung!

Yes.. It will be Run what U brung to start with... I just thought we'd try to limit the $$$$ factor a little.. but I'm not running this show.. Just trying to get some ideas.. Most of the "Farm Stock" classes up north are not "Out of Field" type classes... (Most are 466cid limit in the light classes and 650cid in the heavier..) Smoke and a good sounding charger are what will bring people in... but would like to make it a little affordable... But I wouldn't mind pulling up a last place finish in a few of the Outlaw pulls when they come to town.. Just to compete.. But I"m sure there are only about 1-2 that are willing to go to the Superfarm or the Pro Level.. in our area.. (Might pick up a few that are already pulling Outlaws at those levels..) This thing is along ways from being anything yet... No Tractors yet... hahaha... We'll see what starts showing up this year.. and go from there... (U know us.. we won't try to cut anyone out.. )

JDGnut don't you live in Texas? If so I live on the north side of Ft. Worth and would be interested in building something for that type of class. Been wanting to do that for years but never could find a place around here to pull a smoker. What weight are you thinking of? I have a 460 D that I would like to put a turbo on.

Yes.. I live just outside of Waco.. our Pull in Corsicana is this weekend... I don't know on weight... your 460 would be light.. most tractors would fit into 7000 and up weight classes...

Red.. I just don't want to have to shell out 10G's for a charger.. and the same for a pump.. I would like something to run in the 700-800HP range... JDGnut

Here is whatI am getting at. There are about 7 old prostock pullers from the old TTPA days 10 years ago that are just sitting in barns even 1 or 2 light superstocks. These tractor would be equivalent to todays Superfarm diesels or maybe just a little bit less than this category. If there were a diesel class it wouldnt surprise me to see a few of these pop out of the wood work. the thing is a lot of spectators that come to our pulls recognize dad and say " you are the guy with the awesome 1466 where is it" I think once these fans start to hear of these old pros showing up they will show up. As far as $$$$ I dont think the average joe is going to try this anyhow, they are content with their antique but if they want it bad enough they will always find the $$$$

Hey Nut, Man you are thinking modern day pro prices. there are plenty of P series pumps out there and turbos (3X3 is expensive but 3x4 is a lot cheaper)that would make your hp needs and for a hell of a lot less than 10$$$ a piece. We could use pieces from other pullers that are slightly used and could build some really good tractors and keep the price down

Yea.. 10G's is a little extreme.. but I don't have anything to worry about... Anything I build will have to have someone elses'.. hasbeen parts on it.. or I would be able to aford it.. but like you.. I have a line of projects that have to come first.. but I won't pass up a good deal on a part or two... haha.. JDGnut

Yea that other rookie is going to be driving it or at least I think he is. I have not seen him in 3 days we live at the same place but our paths never cross. Last I heard he was planning to go. He was upset about the change in location. He brought a load of pecans to the shelling plant and worked out a new way to the old place and then that night read the flyer and found out it was moved, kind afunny. Yea this wedding thing has me busted but I am also going to get some turkey hunting in. If The Farmall doesnt make it then I am sorry but Cisco is going to happen because I have it scheduled already. I want to see that smoke blowin R you guys are trying to build I have not seen it yet. We have some things up our sleve for the Farmall should get into the lighter class by the end of the season and should also be turning a few more horses if things work right. It is going to get interesting. Ask Dad this weekend about a diesel class and what his take on rules would be, make sure you have a few minutes, hahah
