Hello, I bought a 77 recently and the wires, plugs, etc are very old and in bad shape. I want to replace all of the electrical components but I am trying to look into the future here. I plan on making this a puller in a year or so and would like to tune it up with stuff that will work when it is a puller. I hate to buy all of the regular stuff now just to replace it with some hi performance items. My question is, should I go ahead with electronic ignition and a hot coil and different plugs now? Is the stock, worn out motor going to run okay with the good stuff?

Thanks,
Keith

I have a 770 Oliver that runs well.....for awile. In cold weather the carb frosts up and the motor seems to be starved for fuel. It will keep going for a short time if I use a lot of choke but eventually it will not keep running. It will restart easily, but as soon as I let out the clutch it will stop running. Any ideas?

Electronic ign. won't hurt a thing... Plugs are only $10 a set and you'd put new ones with a new motor anyway. Buy good wires, They'll last a LONG time..... Good luck.

If it's warn out I would re-build it, but electronic ignition wouldn't hurt it. If the distributor bushings have wear it will help a lot.
