GOING TO MY FIRST PULL WITH A 45 JD B. STANDARD REBUILD ON ENGINE. WHAT FUEL WILL WORK BEST? ANY TIPS FOR A FIRST TIME PULLER?

Dont worry about buying any high dollar fuel for this engine. JD B's in standard engine form only produced about 5.0 to 1 compression. Unfortunately thats not good news they also had a hard time making 20hp on the dyno. Go ahead pull your B the way it is now I`m sure it`s going to be a first gear only tractor for now but do try it maybe it will suprise you. Try to keep it in the light classes like 3500# to 4000#. B`s are a fun tractor to pull and learn from and alot of there parts were interchangeable. Maybe try a head of a 1939 model these heads were flat and would up your compression closer to where it needs to be. keep in mind that almost all engine parts from 1939 to 1952 would interchange and that a 39 B was rated at 18 hp and a 52 was rated at 27 hp. Good luck,have fun and stick with it.

I am just finishing up a 1940 "B" had it bored and a valve job done, bored it from the 4.5 dia. to 4.6875+.045(newrer standard plus .045 over) put high compresion pistons in it, rebuilt the mag, and for your info alot of the parts do not interchange between years do your homework before you just go off and buy parts, unless you have a machine shop that you can use.
