IH 6 cyl, heads.

I recently purchased a 560 gasoline, and was wondering what is the difference in heads between 560, 706 and 806. Mine has the head # 367188R1, which makes the most compression? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

If I'm not mistaken the 706 used two different size engines 263 or 291 cubes,and the 806 was301cubes.Keep that in the back of your mind when thinking about cylinder heads.Bigger cubes require more air to get more hp.

Mark is right, there alot to do to the 6 cyl heads, there are others that will get you more power, but require changing pistons to clear the head.

To be more elaborate, the IH 301 truck engine is a good source for different parts for the tractors, if you can, use the entire engine in the tractor. they have a completely different compression chamber than the tractors, kinda like the LP heads for the letter series farmalls. Now, on the truck heads, you have to run flat top pistons, if you see the truck head, you will understand why. hope this helps, Chad
