alcohol vs. gas

I have never experimented with running alcohol in my tractor but I was wondering what changes have to be made to the carb or plug changes. I think somebody told me that you have to add oil to it because of cylinder wash. Not real familiar with it, also what are the price differences. 110 octane gas vs alcohol. Any help is apprectiated, Thank you.

Double the jet size as compaired to what the engine requires for gas.

Purchase correct fuel pump for alcohol and get pressure guage.

Change oil more often because the alcohol gets in the oil.

does it gain you power? We run 110....and some we run 94. what power difference did you see? thanks, a puller

Thats a given unless..... I (probably mistake number 2) assumed he would know that alcohol loves compression. He might actually not gain any appreciable power on a low compression engine. I don't know for sure but why run alcohol without high cyl pressures.

I read somewheres that alcohol is 120 octane...and they make 119 or 120 octane gas, so wouldn't you be able to run the same amounts of compression in both? thanks alot, a puller

It may also have something to do with the cooling effect of alcohol. That may also be you you can get away with not running water in an alky motor.

now that would make more sense in a good reason to run it...and I have seen it is cheaper. thanks for the info and giving me something to think about..lol..a puller
