How much can be safely taken off the top of a 48 JD-B cylinder block...looking to raise compression. I have heard you can take off as much as a 1/4". It already has a set of .090 over M&W's.
Thanks,
Darol

You might be able to raise your compression with a set of 3/8 x 3/8 square stock rolled into a circle, machined and held in the top of the block with set screws,

Why not just glue an old basket ball in their then you can raise and lower the compression as you wish with an air hose.
