When aligning the cam gear to the crankshaft gear what is the proper procedure? Does the single punchmark on the crank gear line up with the single punchmark on the cam gear? Or is it single punchmark on crank gear with double punchmark on the cam gear? Thank You

It doesn't matter. The timing marks on the cam gear are 180 deg. apart. If you line up one dot and turn crank 360 deg. it will line up with 2 dots. So eather mark will work. Hope this helps

Dead Red is right! You should see it now. I got the front end tore down to the crank nut. It only took me an hour. I read the manual 3 times and it sounds right. Single with single with the cam and crank and double with double with the distributor and cam.

Why can't you just advance the timing with the distributor rather than tearing the whole front apart?

It'll breathe fire soon enough.

Single with single. You can also advance the dist. drive gear 1 tooth. HTis gives you about 7 deg advance.
