I have a question,I see some pullers have the dish of the rim turned in others out. What difference does this make.

That is a mixed question. In some cases I have seen the tires beyong the sled a big help. If the track is loose and your tires are wide u have less dirt to drag along with you. If the track is hard then this is not an advantage. Since most of us dont have 2000HP not too sure that narrower is better either. For the big horsepower guys with 80MPH wheel speeds then narrower is better. You get a better transfer of power to the track with less effect of leverage of torque pressing one wheel down and lifting the other. In otherwords, closer in goes straighter down the track because the tires being closer to the chain have less leverage on the front of the tractor. As one tire gains traction over the other then it tries to rotate the tractor around the hitch point. The farther out the tire is the more the tractor is gonna want to turn and the more brake it will take to keep it out of the grandstands. You may have noticed some tractors tend to turn everytime they pull? Owner needs to move one tire to compensate. Boy, now you wish you hadn't of asked what time it was to a watch builder!

Not sure abut others but my trailer is 81 inches between the fenders. My M's can only get that narrow by turning the hubs with the dish in. I am interested what theories others have about pulling with a wide or narrow wheel setting. Often wondered if having a wheel setting wider than the sled created less loose dirt to build up in front of the sled or do the tires pull better together if the wheel setting is narrow? What is your experience only an inquiring mind wants to know?

just lets you set the width depending on your axle and hub width.
