VW Rabbit works good too. Whatever you get just make sure it was behind the front wheels and not in front. I think the Mustang and Pinto racks are in front.

That explains the right side steering. You must be able to turn a front side over and around to make it work for a right side steering.

I think I'm right on this but I have to see somethings to get a handle on them.

Fiesta is a behind the fronts so it will only work for left side.

If you can come down the left side with the steering rod you can get at non power assist rack off of a ford fiesta. Mid 80s I believe. Contrary to popular belief they don't run slower just because you use a ford part. Also remove the ujoint on the entire steering shaft from the wheel. They are excellant peices and much cheaper at a junk yard than buying something from a wholesaler. They should be around 6 bucks each for the u joints. Not sure what the rack would cost. If you need to come down the drivers right side for steering a pinto rack should work.

I would guess you might get it cheaper by telling the junk yard man what you were trying to do in stead of going there with the intentions of getting a certian rack. They can name their price that way but if you let them know you don't care what it comes off of they might back off the price just a little to make a sale.

I've bought a couple at salvage yards locally for $50-$75. Ones out of early Nissan cars work good, beacause they have a straight input shaft and can be easily narrowed up. Be sure to get the two universals that go to the rack, especially the splined one, it make it alot easier to hook up.

SpeedwayMotors.com has one that is only 12in end to end.. its a little on the high side... (little over $200).. it has a straight shaft for in the input... I just went to junk yard and picked one of the shelf.. Most are using the Pinto or Mustang II Rack..(they have an angled input) small and usually not too expensive... JDGnut
