Where to buy suitcase weights?

Didn't get any help on the other forums, so I thought I'd ask the pullers my question:

Anybody know where I can buy suitcase weights in the Dallas, TX. area?

Tractor Supply Co. tells me that they don't carry much in the way of tractor parts (that's really what they told me!), and the nearest two Case/IH dealers are almost an hour away from here.

Also- is it true that the mounts for these weights are universal? I had someone tell me that 1/2" X 6" hanger bracket would be the size that they all use.

Thanks in advance for your time, -Schotte

I didn't need many and they weren't cheap, but I got mine from the local John Deere dealer. I've seen some made out of what looks like 1" plate. Might try some salvage yards.

since no one else was able to help, I'll try. First, look for some auctions in your location this winter, check with farmers in your area, they probably have a few laying around that you can get cheap. Since I don't think you care much about color, the farmers may be a good idea. If you know someone with a torch, find some scrap plate and build your own. I will be going to a auction next week, but it is in Ga. I work for a jd dealer and they have alot of "old" unsold suitcase weights and I am sure a local dealer would have some. Fill your front tires with water/antifreeze mix for extra weight.
