I have an R jd that has 730 pistons, 13mm. pumps 830 valves,830 tips, bigger lines dry air fiter higher ratio rockers plus some porting and a few other things.the fuel pressure at filter is running about 70 psi(is capable of 125) the tractor runs real well and has been competative.but---i dont think I am getting enough fuel. the tractor smokes but not real bad at least not like some 820's and 830's i've been around.(also have stock R that smokes terrible but pulls bad also) the pump rack is not quite all the way open about 17 on the marks and iwill have to remove stop or grind off some thing to go any further now for my questions--- can anyone tell me how to get more fuel into it? how far open can I go on rack setting? all the way? i was told that anything above 18 or 19 would not work. what about the fuel pipes in block? leave them in? make them bigger? different tips? custom or other? I am not afraid to go to the pro's but would like to do myself and am not always certain that they wont do the same as what has already been done. last question I know that there are some really big 820'sand 830's out there.and they must use enough fuel to flat drown my R.what are they doing for fuel systems? who is doing the work? Paul

Are you running a high cetane number fuel? One that is at least 45.0. I have seen a lot of the new fuel formulations come through our lab and the increased power is incredible. Nitrates used to be the way to get a complete burn, but now they have come up with oxidizers, add packs that accelerate the combustion. There are 50 cetane fuels and greater available. Just my 2 cents worth.

8 inches ehhh, on a good day maybe! The limiting factor with the R is in the head, not to say you cant double the HP though. One thing though is that you have 730 pistons, and using 830 tips on the injectors. Not to say it wont run, but the bowl pattern in a 730 is narrower, than a 830, thus the spray pattern and angle of the tips are different. The 830 tip is bigger though. I never could break down and spend 1300-1800 for a fuel setup though, so I do my own work. Another thing was that I couldnt spend that kind of money and them not tell me what all they were doing, yes I understand the reason for that, but still. You can flow more fuel thru the injectors with some work. What size lines are you running? Go ahead and open up the racks all the way and see what happens. Fastest way to get more fuel delivery there. Anything else you need just drop me a line. Good Luck

How do you "open up the racks all the way"? I've looked at mine and am not quite sure as to how one would set the rack up. What marks are there that Paul is referring to? At full throttle, the rack linkage collar on the flywheel side of tractor limits travel. Even when I take that collar off and use a stiffer spring for return pressure, I still don't get that much more rack travel. Also Gpower, how do I go about advancing my timing and how far should I go?

I guess I dont know about original pistons but as far as replacements are concerned pistons are exactly the same(730 vs. 830) except for fly cut. also know head will end up being limiting factor but fuel is at this point. Paul
