I pull a John Deere G in antique class. I was at pull this summer and there was a spot in the track
that took alot of power to pull the sled through.
Some tractors made it through it and alot didn't. I didn't make it through and after I pulled my friend (not a tractor puller) said why didn't you hit the starter just before the motor died. Just wondering what you guys think of that idea. I just about made it through the spot and if I would of hit the starter I may have pulled it through.

Now I think some of the guys aren't giving your idea an indepth look.I know of "starter motor" that would probably help alot, its now running a sawmill and is about 400HP and the best part is these guys only use it to run the mill during the
the week so you could probably rent it on weekends.Mounting might require a little beefing up of the generator bracket. Most fairgrounds have
three phase 440 voltage so that shouldn't be a problem. Also I have never seen anything in any antique rules against having an extension cord hooked up to your tractor. And of course no matter
what you do to a John Deere its still "STOCK"!!

I generally just use the starter & keep the engine reserve.

Previously missed the word "in", was laughing too hard.

I think your friend isn't aware of what it takes to spin over a G engine let alone push a 3+ ton tractor plus a much heavier sled. Factor in the sled's friction, momentum and you've got yourself a bunch of BS. Sorry so blunt it's been one of those days compounded by a bunch of 8 year old girls dancing and singing (I think that's what the screams are??) to Britney Spears.

Hang in there Burns. Just think, it's only about 5 or 6 long cold months until the 2002 summer pulls. Sorry, just couldn't resist throwing a little gas on the fire!

I had one of those "peg the fun meter" evenings earlier this weeks. The small seep in my wife's vehicles radiator became a puddle leaving leak. So I took it out and solder it. Got the shop floor all cleaned up, looked at it again before closing the hood and it was still leaking (blood pressure plateau #1). Tried to solder it without removing the radiator (didn't want to dirty up the floor again) - leak got worse (plateau #2). Said p--- on it, I'll take it back out and do it right tomorrow night. Went to the house and the lockset on the door between the garage and utility room broke when I turn the knob. Now I got the go all the way around the house to get in (plateau #3 and THE LAST STRAW). The worst thing is that I keep thinking how I would rather be tinkering with my puller instead of screwing with this IMPORTANT stuff! Good luck.

Just something to think about the starter on a Cockshutt 50 Diesel puts out about 4hp The started on a jd 730 diesel must put out 10 or so

you are correct-some of these "experts" are unwhere what hitting the starter might do! get you an extra 6-12 inches?!? I've seen many a pulls lost by less an 1 inch or so! will it make one heck of a racket doing this..probably so!!

So that I am NOT labeled an expert and condemned to purgitory for all of time, I will retract my statement that the starter will not work. I will also provide some other helpful insights into pulling that will "help".

Wash your tractor before a pull so that it will have less drag therefore it will go faster down the track.

Add helium to the tires to lighten the old girl up.

Push the tires with your feet. Might need to duct tape some paddles to the sides of the tires with adhesive tape for traction.

The most important trick is to talk to your tractor before, during, and after the pull. We all know how sensitive our tractors can be.

While I haven't tried these myself, I would check your local rules regarding these tips.

Relax. LOL

Do I know who they/you are NO. Do I really care..NO.

If you are referring to the comment regarding Goldsburg, I know he likes his MM's and I know he reviews many of the posts. My comment was more of a friendly hello and not an accusation. At least he has the balls to place his name on a post rather than hide behind his keyboard.

Let me guess your crap doesn't stink.

Yeah to think that it is only Nov. I've taken my share of shots at others but lately I've done a little thinking with what has gone on in the world. Besides when you deal with 130 9-12th graders high on hormones, you tend to develop thick skin. Besides by the look of my belt line, my skin is getting bigger, too. HAHA

I am still waiting for my anonymous friends to post something of value on this site. Till then I guess I keep returning.

Alright junior, off the computer & back to your homework. Get Mommy to wash that ignorant little mouth out too. If you can't post your name with a remark it doesn't carry any weight either, chicken. Burns is a class act & doesn't deserve such abuse. While granted there are liberal/out of touch with reality teachers still stuck in the 60's. And just plain incompetent teachers ( as some exist in any other trade) Burn's isn't one of them.

I'd talk to a legislator regarding what you feel should be in place. Similar to a physician or pharmacist, here in PA teachers are required to complete 180 hours of continuing education credits every 5 years in order to keep our certificate valid to teach. No credits = no teach. The PA Department of Ed are currently beginning the first year of teacher testing. Yes, we will be given a test just like our students. It is my understanding that each teacher will receive an evaluation but I am uncertain whether our certificates are associated with the results.

Well I guess I must put you in the same category has the piece of crap Osama Bin Laden. You hide behind your keyboard without an identity spewing false statement about your fellow man. You twist your ideas around to portrait a picture based on your wacked out ideas. The fact of the matter is if one is to judge the success of the public education system based on the members of society such as your self, apparently it has failed. I don't know what your story is but apparently you are bitter about someting. To make a stab at me is fine but to make a statement regarding education is wrong. It is obvious that you know nothing about the educational process. Just out of curiosity, share with me what your true profession is?

This is my last post with you so I guess you will get the last word. While I believe your opinion is pure unadulterated garbage, you are entitled to your opinion. I guess this is part of what makes the US the great country that it is because we can agree on disagreeing.

Good bye

AH Yes, what I'm sure some folks have missed more is the one that doesn't have a name or especially an email.

Just for clarification, I knew this guy who had a three legged cat that was bit by a hairless goat. Well this guy married this fine looking women who was sister to lady who owned the goat. Turns out her cousin was adding the helium to tires and her next door neighbor (you know the one that has the pet that is 1/2 monkey and 1/2 ground hog) was duct taping the paddles to the side of the tires.

Here are some other ideas

#1 Thank a veteran
#2 Pray for the active members of the armed services
#3 Pray for the victims and their families of today's tradegy.
#4 Relax I'm only joking (I thought that was evident)
