Good day gentlemen,

I'm working on an idea for spicing up my 1951 John Deere R for this summer's tractor pulls. What I'm wanting to do is put in a manifold with split exhaust on it. These splits would run out either side of the tractor and then go up to straight chrome stacks on either side. Do you all have any ideas or suggestions. I'm planning on interchanging it with the stock and standard system I've got when I want to work with it. This is just for the pulls. Thanks for the input. God bless.

Doesn't matter what you do it'll still be a R, so that means you'll still have the best tractor in town.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but you might want to check the rules for the places your planning to pull at. Some of the organizations will not allow you to run dual exhaust on a John Deere 2 cylinder tractor.

Thanks for the heads up. It won't be a problem at our fair. It's a pretty small fair. The rules aren't that extensive and I think I saw a fella with a G that had 'em on it as well as one guy with a farmall running duals. We usually only have one or two JD's there so I figured I'd let mine make sure the Jd's were well represented. Thanks again. God bless.

Headers. either find someone with a welding shop that can rig you up something custom or you can find someone with a machine shop and see what they can do for you should be fairly simple if you find some one that knows how to do their thing.

p.s. the bigger the pipe the louder the rumble, Louder Is Better
in my opinon any way :)

Since good manifolds are getting scarce for an R, I would fabricate a new one with dual outlets-- like a header on a race car.

If you do away with the factory exhaust, how will you fabricate the cooling system inlets? I thought there was only about four bolts that hold the exhaust/water manifold on. I intend to do this if I decide to keep my R once I finish rebuilding the motors.
