Listen to Paul,He's right on the money. Larger cam isn't always the answer when your in a dead pull the WHOLE time your running. Good Luck

wellll depends if you are running close to stock rpm's and cubic inch bigger valves wont help much. you may see a horsepower increase on dyno at 1800 rpm but will probably see no improvement or a decrease at 1100 rpm. Has to do with a decline in intake velocity and general engine efficientcy.if you are doubling rpm or cubic inch on engine different story.camshaft--- camshafts are often a compromise longlivity being a major factor also cam tech has come a long way but--- a bigger cam may still not help a stock engine much. more lift and shorter duration might. a change in center line might also. but a huge cam and a small engine is only for high rpm not dead weight tractor pulling. Ralph, my opinion isn't worth much to some people but since its a free world I get to say what I want.

More fuel/air/compression in combustion chamber creates higher cyl pressure which is converted into heat engery which is what turns the crank.

What some people might experience is bigger built motors don't lug 10 or 20 or 30 feet then stop and this is true from my limited observence. But I say what does it matter if you are 50 feet ahead of the luggers then it spins out or chokes.

Properly designed bigger valves and higher lift cam is going to make more power provided the rest of the system compliments these changes and it sounds like you are on the right track. Thats the way I feel about it until I get proved wrong.

I think that your cam is set to high rpm did you do anything with the ignition or carb horsepower ci and compression go hand and hand at least it did.ED
