Lightening up JD R

Been awhile back, but I saw a "R" for sale that supposedly was able to pull in 6,500lb class. Has anybody stripped an "R" down this far and IF so what did you do? I figured probably loosing the pony, and a fabricated front axle along with weld on plates and steel rears..... ..... ....what else?? Thay are a hulk of iron!

Pressed steel wheels, 18.4-38 rears, 15,16" front wheels, flatback, no pony, no factory radiator, no factory fan, either a D axle or homemade front axle, no fuel tank, drop the factory hitch and hitch frame, build a lighter one. You will be close to the 6500 class. Next step is drop the fenders and platform, kinda scary sitting there then, but your light.

I have not done this, seen one that was done that way though. Used a lighter car radiator, electric water pump and fan, and your good to go. He was running in the 6500 with maybe a few weights to get there. Watch your tires types also, 10ply, 8 ply etc. and wheels you use vary on weight.
