Rules on Stock Frames??

I have been looking at different frames on tractors and question how the rules apply to "stock frames." I know different clubs have different rules.. but I have been looking at some 460 and 560's.. (Not to point them out.. but..) it looks like they have been replaced with C-channel from the bell housing forward.. (actually a new channel welded to the cast piece that bolts to the bell housing.) I know this is better.. and stronger than from the factory.. most are doing this to extend the frame for a custom wide front... Just curious to how different rules apply this... or have any rules at all... I wouldn't mind building a tube framed.... if rules would allow... (ours would not..) Just curious..

Our club says must have stock frame rails, and stock wheel base. I am not for sure if the national classes have rules about wheel base,, probably not,, I would say that since it is making it stronger,, it can hold more front end weight and lees likely to break the stock bolster off or the bolts that hold the bolster. I have been thinking about a tube frame on the front,, just for the front end,, but I think I will keep it stock in appearence,, well, as close as I can. LOL,, Have seen aluminun frame rails,, not in love with them,, but they look nice all polished up!! Hard to say what you are allowd to do,, Just have to try it, and see if they will allow it. Chad

Hey, How is the R doing, Pillars of black smoke yet???? I need to post some of Dads picks of the old prostock. Our H is a far cry from that tractor but maybee in a year or two we might have a class for some type of farm stock. We replaced the frame rails with C channel from the cast mounting flange all the way to the front of the weight bracket on th H. Looks good and is a lot stronger. we put 750 on the nose in the heavy class at Valley Mills last year. I would be scared to do that with just bolting a weight bracket to it and not extending the frame. I am with you on the tube frame idea but I think others would have a problem. Most tube frames I have seen are chromoly tubes and the then some light guage steel bent around it to make it appear original from the outside. I think it should be allowed in Div 3and higher or so. Adds to the tractor strength.

Red.. I hadn't even noticed The Farmall's frame... but does make the front stronger... I think the tube frame would be nice.. and fun to build.. Molly of course... but I think there would lots of complaining.. The did OK.. smoke yes.. but we just got out tired.. lol.. She just needs a good set of cut tires... U need to post some pics of the old P-stocker... I sure am getting the itch to build something that smokes..... (something with a turbo... lol.) All it good time.. have too many other projects to get finished... (have to get back home first.. on the road for work..))

Yea it is not very noticeable. Everything blends in so good it is hard to tell. Only thing missing are all the holes that the stock frames have in them. Cut tires are a great thing. The way I figure it, put the biggest cut tire you are allowed (18.4-38) and then make the horse power to turn them. 9 out of 10 times the big tire size and the cut tires are going to help. think about it, tires with cleats on them break up larger clods of dirt. that pile of dirt in front of the pan adds to the load. the small cleats shave the top off the track and the sled kinda slides over the fine shaving. Like marbles under a steel plate. I see where a lot of pullers are running high tire pressure, We have not run a pull with over 6 lbs no matter what the track conditions. If you want a big footprint run low pressure or a smallprint higher pressure but keep that big tire. Oh yea, figured out why the last 2 pulls the tractor died half way down the track. We ran div 3 and 4 back to back at both of them, our fuel pump was getting hot and shuting off added a return line to solve it.

On the tires sizes.. there is always exeptions to the rules.. some times LBS/per SQ in make a difference... Look at Bulters M.. 14.9's. and everyone else running 18.4's.. he's not always on top.. but usually in the top 2 or 3 if not one... Yea.. maybe a little more power than some of us... Tire pressure.. we just watch the holes.. I haven't changed pressure in a few yrs.. just make sure it is the same... Saw some under inflated tire at Booneville.. the center of the tracks where they stopped was as high as the orginal track... the tires cupping in the middle.. Well.. I got to get back to work..
