Here is a picture of possibly the 1st ever modified pulling tractor to pull with a blower motor. Its Claude Woodworth from Ursa,Illinois on his 5-7000 lb modified F-30 with a blown 427 Chev.It was called "Chevy Blows Your Mind".He may have had the blower on it in 1970.This picture was taken at Bethany,MO in July 1971 at the huge NTPA Western National Pull.

The link picture is terrible as it was very cloudy and was trying to rain.It shows Claude Woodworth pulling the 12,000 Unlimited class at Bethany,MO in 1971.He threw (70) 100 lb weights on the F-30 to pull against the Allison Teams V-12 Allison powered UB MM's.If I remember right he made the top 3 but smoked his automatic tranny doing it.

The capacity crowd was on its feet for this run as the 427 Chev was really turning some high rpms.Everyone was rooting for him to beat the Allisons.Notice the pace tractor.I think 1971 was the last year for them?

1206SWMO - I'm normally not on this pullin'site very often, but you've taken me back to the early days when this sport was getting started. It seems to me that those were the golden days , similar to stock-car racing, rock & roll etc. Those boys did most of their work in the farm shop , using their own talents and imagination. It was also a time when true farmers didn't need thousands of acres to make a go of it and had the extra money in indulge in the sport. The largest pull here in Ontario was at the Nelles Corners track owned by Bob Slack. The stands were always filled and there were so many entrants that Bob actually set up two tracks in order to not have to pull all night long. Worked great , as soon as one pull was over , the second was ready to pull the opposite direction on track #2. Haven't seen pulls there for 20+ yrs since Bob retired. Anyway , thanks for jogging my memory of how things used to be !!
