Does anyone know of any light cast centers that would fit on a 4440 axle? Would the dished cast centers off of a 8430 work and if so does anyone know what their weight is? Any info would be great.

Its been a while since I've looked closley at a 4440 Wheel/axle, but you might check out the F1500R wheel that was used on everything from the "60" thru the 4010. You would need to use the wedges from your current wheel in the F1500R wheel so it would fit your axle. Mike Aylward (sp?) could probably tell you for sure. He posts on here frequently. Mike

I'm not sure, but I think the taper angle on the older F1500 wheel is different than the newer taper on the 4440 wheels. Probably the way to lose the most weight would be to find a set of dual hubs for your axle size (either 3 3/8" or 3 5/8"- both were available at one time). Then put on a set of pressed steel wheels. The 9-bolt hub and wheel will be much lighter, but not nearly as strong, either. But it should work for what you want it for. If you have the large axles, 4630's, 4620's, 4520's and 5020's all use that same size axle so hubs will not be impossible to find (although they are not as plentiful as they once were). Hope this helps. Mike

Why not weld in a Pressed Steel Center on your current rim? I can't imagine a cast center from a 8430 would be much, if any lighter than your 4440 cast center. The only thing you'll need is the hubs for the Pressed Steel Center. Just a thought.
