All you guys that can run a club better than the NATPA, get off you butts and start a new club, start with 143 divisions to make it fair, and set the hitch height to vary with paint color.
I don't pull at the national leval, just a summer time puller, but I was president of the local club for 3 years; some one will always win, and someone else will always whine. When the true stock JD "B" enters Div 4, does that mean the 600 cid oliver is cheating? I'm waiting for the class that allows short fat guys on oliver diesels with massy and farmall weights ONLY!! then I'll have a better chance. Don

Why not make div 5 open rpm? As long as ALL necesary safety equipment is used (steel flywheel and pressure plate, SFI balancers, SFI blankets, etc), Allow fabricated manifolds, any updraft carb, STOCK block and head, 460 cant have RD501's, 88's can't run 1800 engine etc. Tractors will have a min weight for each model to keep larger ones where they belong and for an extra safety measure. If there aren't many rules there won't be much bitch'n

Let em go,I like the way you think.Turn them loose with the proper safety equipment.I'd rather pull a high rpm motor than a stroker motor.Over 30 years ago we pulled a Wards ER at 4500 and 5500 lbs and cranked that flathead Chrysler over 6000 rpms. The scary thing is that absolutely no safety equipment was required back then.

you can't ask these guys to spend all kinds of $$ on certified this/that then pull for ribbons! if you want open rpms, then make a class for it or go pull out east where they do that stuff. bear got this rpm thing started, it needs to be stopped before something comes unglued at the 4000 plus, I mean 3400 rpms that the 460's are running (we all know they wouldn't run them any harder now would they?) Lincoln promoters will really like it when lawsuits start over open rpms tractors!(hence Kentucky incident all over again)

a lot less $$$ in a small & fast eng than a big stroker one, what are you guys spending on a stroker crank these days? a grand plus? that buys a flywheel, clutch setup and $$ left. how about thin rods to clear cam and turning cam down? or mooving it in the block? sounds like a lot of $$$ in the BIG motors. Safety, seen a G JD break in half, driver went off on the track, why? butcher it and make it big and thin. seen ones come apart at high rev's too, parts didn't make it any further than the tires on any of them

What are you smokin???? The fast running small cube motors are JUST as safe as the big pooch stroker motors!! I would much rather stand by a small cube fast motor with a steel flywheel, than these big uninspected pieces of stroker CRAP!! Before you go telling the world how darn smart you are, get your facts straight pal!!!

First off, why don't you learn how to spell before you start calling someone else dumb? Second, what do you pull, sounds like someone's afraid of getting beat by a little motor that is not even stroked! Never said I was God, but if thats how you look at it, then you need to go to church and get your faith in it's place pal, it's only tractor pulling!

Sorry if I mispelled a word or two, seams the norm on this dis. board, not to make excusses. I was just wondering how you can tell us dumb folks, that high rpm's are as safe as a stroker engine running 10-30% over? You just came across as knowing more than you actually do. Sorry if I mispelled a word or two again. My spell check does'nt work on here.

High RPMs or low RPMs, the motor will go when it wants to, because of luck or the HACKS that build them to cheat. So shut up and get in the shop and start building your own tractor to fit within the RULES!!!

Hope they have 60H chains on the pedel tractor woundn't want anybody to get hurt. just in case chain broke. maybe some of these tractor pullers? need to start playing a new sport, cards or maybe a above 10yr old board game, face to facts motor sports of any type have some dangers, use a little common sence and have fun.

Slowsmoke,, Did you ever pull at Hartford KY? I remeber seeinga a Diesel Oliver with a Indian decal on the side, that said "Slowsmoke" on the side, Is that you? I have a new perspective on div 5 classes. All though it is run what you brung, and get away with as much as you can, The rules d owork for tractors of that status. I am stuck when NATPA first started, when all 5 was stock blocks, No plates Etc,,, Wich is theory is a div 4 tractor. Most of the high hp div 3 tractors pulled div 4-5 if they wanted too. Me personally, I am not bashing the NATPA. On the fact that I have not pulled withthem in quite some time. not since 99 or 00. I love fast class tractors, and I guess what the misunderstanding on my part is not the engine limitations, (stock blocks or not) The problems I see is that they are continuing to allow the high rpm (over3000) to pull. Ever since the NATPA rpm chart came about, and letting tractors run rpms from other tractors, it opened up pandoras box. I think the rpms are resonable for up to div 4, but,, why would they need to run over 3000 rpm on these big engined tractors? I guess for me is to stop complaining and go to a pull, and see what is up, and then coment on what I see, not what I have seen in the past. One person said to keep my H in div 3,, well I agree, it is not a div 5 tractor anymore, it is probably not a div 4 compared to the modern tractors of today. Just have to go pull with them again and see what it can do, and what it is capable of. Then that will tell me what class I should stay in and comment about. I know I keep on complaining,, I have no ground to stand on, and I realize that. I have questions, and they have answers,, I think the div 3 is a good class as far as rules, I guess Div 3 is the way to go, If I want to waste money by entering the fast classes, It is just an education on getting whipped by the best in the NATPA. Just my opinion,

It's my tractor, bought it a couple years ago. It just seams funny to me the number of peaple who complain about a class they don't pull in! I thaught this was a fun hobby. if antiques made the same purse money as nascar, would things be different? an $18000 motor for a $.33 ribbon is not the way to an early retirement. Later, Don

Hey CHADS, why wory about div 5? The class is not worth talking about! It is dying at a fast pace, because of the unfair rpm's. Go pull div 2-4 and have FUN!
