decking block

I have rust pockets on the deck of the block where the head gasket didn't cover . Scrapped them out and they are about .030 deep. can I fill these with an epoxy or shall I have the deck ground it's a 450 farmall and it's a sleeved engine the sleeve lip is just .085 thick . give me some ideas .

Install the sleeves, have it decked .015, and use JB weld in the deeper spots to fill in the dips, Should have a nice flat surface. Just my 2 cents worth, JB weld will hold as long as it is not in direct contact with the compression fire heat. Hope this helps,,
