I am trying to fix a UTU Moline for division 2 type pulling. Any CHEAP ways to get more horses? I have heard people talk about heads. The heads on the tractor are 4209's. What are these? I am limited for time and any serious money, just was curious for any cheap secrets.

M-5 blocks is how we are going on our stock U. Even with old heads and manifold, it will have a few more cubes and at least turn 60-65hp. I was not sure if those blocks were legal everywhere, but they are listed as necessary in the old AddPower piston kits for overbore M&W type rebuilds. Kind of like Deere power blocks only they are MM factory parts. The 6" G crank would fit in there quite well too. Cheapest would be new intake, and M5 blocks. Heads are pricey, but 4210s are plentiful and ok. Even boring the old U blocks would be healthy and increase compression a little. Lots of options when it comes to MM. That is the reason for quite a few rules against them.

4209 heads are low comp. heads on a u they are 5.5 to 1 with flate top pistons. If you could find some 4206 or 4210 heads that would raise your comp.About the cheapest way to increase your power is to find a set of M5 blocks & Pistons& use 06 or 10 heads and some work on the govener.

Since he is building a div 2 puller the M5 blocks are technically illegal. I don't know about the crank. In the world of pulling HP = $$$$. My advice to you would be to tune it up as good as you can. Put some better heads on it (4210). Maybe a tow peice 670 lp style manifold if those are legal in div 2 and get it as light as possible. I have a couple other ideas, but I am sving them for my tractor ;)
