Hey guys, got a question for you, I listed some parts for sale on the classifieds, and sure as heck, I got a response from some people wanting to buy my parts, and ship them to the UK, just like the warnings on the classifieds said could happen, heres my question, obviously I'm not going to try to deal with them, but is there anyway to report it, get them busted?????, just got the email an hour ago, what do you guys think?????

I have put a couple of for sale adds on YT and got a couple of sincere responses and sold one thing but I got several responses that wanted pictures, what not. I told people to send mailing address as I could not e-mail photos yet and they just kept sending e-mails wanting pictures but would not send any info as to where to send them to. They went as far as to put URGENT RESPONSE PLEASE! on their e-mails but no address. I finally got wise and quit answering these chain jerkers. As with anything, a very few can spoil it for everybody.

I get this crap all the time. They do not respond to your questions but have an odd set of thier own. I usually say I require American cash at the time of pickup. Usually I write back and say I have reported them to the FDIC and it stops. Last guy was from South Africa and wanted to buy my Moline snow blade. Who the he** needs a snow blade in South Africa!

Hey I've got probably $35000.00 in bad checks that I did not cash because I knew it was fraud. I tried to turn them into the FBI but they didn't want them because there is so much of this $#!+ going on.

I had a guy from Europe email me about some tractor parts. He was really persistent, but he didn't ask the kinds of questions that you would expect someone to ask. He was more worried about me shipping the parts FAST and not worried about the condition or price. He said he would have someone come and pick up the parts and he would send a "certified check", red flags started flying. I told him if he was serious, that the check would have to totally clear my bank and that would take 10 to 14 business days before I would let the parts out of my site. Needless to say, he declined my terms and asked me not to contact him!

Tell them to have an official from their bank contact an official of your bank to arrange a transfer of funds. Do not give out any account numbers. If he's legit, there will be no problem for the money profesionals to work out the details. My guess is you won't hear from him again.

Maybe this character just wants to buy parts for his restoration! I am considering hunting for parts for my JD model GM in the US as they are very scarce here in Australia. Not everyone is out to get you!

Hi, my name is Chris and I am from the UK. I don't want to stir things but you can deal with people from other countries regarding parts and shipping, you just have to be careful. I have bought many parts from the US with no problem. I even bought my JD 6030 and had that shipped from the USA and that is no small amount. As I said, you just have to be careful, theres no need to report someone for trying to buy parts from another country. Kind regards to all, Chris in the United Kingdom.

I have to agree with ya Chris. I have friends in the UK and have even met some really nice folks on here from there. I think you need to look at the situation instead of where the buyer is from. If the buyer is legit he will understand anyones concern about fraud especially on the Internet. Besides to be honest it doesn't really cost that much to make a short phone call to the UK or most any other country. I voice on the phone is pretty reassuring although I still would not send any money back.

It would be alot safer if the sellers agrees to find the actual costs of shipping and hankling and designates a money order or fund transfer to the specific amount. Since most everyone who gets one of these scams posts it they are pretty easy to see through.

What part of the UK are ou in? My friends live on a small farm in northern Wales and i really enjoy talking to them about the different farming practices of the two countries.

Dig around on this site. Most of the official sites don't want to hear about it unless a loss occurrs but there may be something here...

Yep, I had a guy contact me from Switzerland wanting me to do the same thing. I told him where to go and how to get there. There is enough people here in the US that will but parts. I would report them If I knew how. but why waste my time. Just my 2 cents

I will clearify.. It was one of those deals where he over writes the check and wants me to send the balance back. I did my home work on this. I did not mean to offend you out of country folk,, I wrote it wrong, and was kinda ticked off that he would not leave me alone about it. If a buyer is serious,, they will make the proper arrangements for payment, I have been behind a little, I lost my ups outlet and have to have a truck come to the house now to pick up what I ship now. I kind of like that idea,, it does save on the shipping costs.

Yeah, it was one of these deals, the guy wants to send a check for way more than I want for the parts, and he never specified which parts he wanted, come on, a flywheel, a junk injection pump, and a so so starter, yeah right, it sounds exactly like the fraud alert said it would, US funds only for me!

Your question about a foreigner wanting to buy parts is good, but the ones you have to watch out for are the ones where they send you a check for lots more money, tell you to cash the check,, pay the cost of crating or packaging and the shipping charges and send them the balance of the check. (What's left over, after you ship the part or piece) They usually count on the fact that your bank will say the check is good, and between the time you cash it, package up the part, tractor, car, boat, or whatever, and send back the money that's left over, the culprit will stop payment on the check, before it gets back to his bank! So now, you've shipped the part, a money balance, the check bounces, and guess who gets left holding the bag! The culprit gets whatever you have shipped back to him, along with a sum of money in a good check from your account! WOOOHHHAAA! So, be forewarned--if it seems to be too good to be true---it probably is! And check the internet in the hoax and fraud web-sites. There is a lot of info on them. Now, if somebody wants you to ship something, and sends you a check, take it to your bank, deposit it, ask how long to wait to make sure the check is good, like 2 weeks or more, then if everything is o.k. at the bank, ship the part-s. BUT! tell any purchaser that there will be a delay in sending the part-s! Rusty Jones
