M Farmall wheelie bars and hitch

I am looking for ideas on wheelie bars for a M Farmall. I have some .250" wall 2x2 tubing which fits the dents in the axle perfectly. I need to build some wheelie bars similar to what Denny sells but not to pick a fight I want them to support the tractor. At the same time I want them to be light. They need to be somewhat adjustable to make it easier to get on and off the trailer. Anyone have any pics of something they have done that works well and willing to share? Also looking for idea on making an adjustable hitch. Again plenty of 2x2x 1/4 tubing and 3x1/2 flat bar and more junk in the pile. Figured I would connect to the axle where the original hitch hooked and make a bracket with adjustable link to where the PTO used to be. Needs to be light but sufficient to keep me hooked. Tractor is modified. Need to stay somewhat DIV3 up legal.

Chads, Is the main plate 1/4, 3/8 or 1/2 in steel ?

That does answer the question of how much strain will the PTO cover plate take as yours is handling all the down force and side force. What material did you make your drawbar out of? If I had a factory bar I would modify it. May have to hunt one up. Did you do anything to make your wheelie bars adjustable on the end to make it easier to load and unload? I planned on building something very similar your yours with the addition of a slip tube and pin on the end to slid the bars in for loading. Is that 1.5" black pipe or did you actually use DOM? Thanks for sharing.

Stock drawbar was cut off, and I had made a u shaped clevis out of 1 in. round stock and welded to the drawbar. I had also made a piece that fits snug inside the bore of the pto hole in the rear end to hold it in place, The wheelie bars are heavy guage pipe, and can hold the tractor jacked up, weighing 5500 and not be shaky. The wheelie bar stands have the same pipe welded to the ends and a pipe that slide inside it, and held with a 1/2 bolt and lock nut. I remove them to load and unload. Hope this helps,, ChadS
