Ford started the 900 series in 1955, the second and third numbers indicate how the tractor was equiped, diesel, transmission, live hydraulics, independent pto ect. In 1958 they redesigned the front pedistal and brake linkage and grill but it is still a 900. Same running gear as in 1955! The rules state any model that went in to production before 1957, therefore a 901/961 fits the rules. They allow D17 engines In AC/WC so why not a differant grill and pedistal on a Ford, nor performance enhancement here. Mabey some of the natpa officers that pull are afraid of or ashamed to pull against a LPG/FORD.
could it be the color, not green, solid red yellow(gold)or orange.
FORDS FOR EVER

Division 1&2 production of series started prior to 57. Some models started in the 50s and went into the 60s. they still qualify because of series start date.

I've seen a few D-17 pull in the NATPA,, if they allowed them why not the 961? It is just a newer version of the 900 series right?
