I am lookig for some inserted rods for a 1940 B,
the crank that is in it measurs 2.5 dia. Any ideas or recomendations.

How bout the rods out of a 50 or 520? Don't they have insert bearings?

we have taken the poured babbit rods and made a steel shim about .125 thick. then bored and honed the rods to take the insert bearings.

What type of steel did you use for the rod bearings? would brass work?

we used the bearing inserts for the engine we were working on in your case it would be a john deere b.
