The block and head on my '42 a is getting very hot, however the upper and lower water pipe are dead cold. It gets hot enough to seize and needs to have the plugs pulled out and engine turned backwards to break it loose. My question is does an unstyled head gasket have different water passages than a styled?? I recently had the head off to do work and ordered new gaskets from JD to replace the old. I did not really pay any attention when putting it back together but if I got the wrong gasket, the water woild not circulate..... right? Any ideas??

I dont believe the unstyled headgasket can be put on a styled block due to the different head bolt patterens.....I would check for bird or rat nests in the head/block/radiator, what is the specs on the tractor?? we are haveing trouble too..
