Honestly I don't know much about the dynamics of big JD but I would think a healthy plenium would help along with a carb that flowed good. If you can ever figure out how to fill the cylinders you already have you wouldn't need to do anything else to it. I'd be willing to bet volumetric effeciency is down around 70 % or less.

Obiously you are lifting the valves about as far as they can go so concentrate on flow quality. I understand that the Jerry's head has somewhat large ports and any less a motor wouldn't pull enough vacuum (from what I have heard on this board) to keep velocity up. Something to think about. Unshrouding the valves and that sort of thing will help the big bore make use of a big head.
